Itinerary

Welcome to Siem Reap. Siem Reap is a quiet town that leads to the old city of Angkor, which was once the center of a powerful civilization in the 12th century. It is amazing that this place had more than 1 million people and was one of the most advanced in the world.

Upon arrival inside the arrival terminal of Siem Reap International Airport, look for our representative who will be holding the signboard with your names on it. Our Representative will assist you with the immigration and lead you to the baggage claim where you can pick up your luggage while waiting a bit to get your passport back after it is stamped. Our representative will take you to the guide, who is outside the arrival terminal. Then, you will go to your hotel for check-in (early check-in depends on the hotel’s availability and is not included). Free at leisure.

Accommodation: Phnom Baitang Resort or a similar standard resort

Breakfast at the hotel.

08.30 our guide and driver pick you up from the hotel for a Siem Reap Orientation Tour, drive through the world heritage city of Siem Reap to visit the main local main shrine Preah Ang Chhek Preah Ang Chhom. Get to one of the local coffees for a drink, our guide will get you more detailed information about Siem Reap and the country.

Next, drive to Wat Damnak, one of Siem Reap’s most beautiful pagodas. The history of the French colonial architecture is reflected in its style and the peaceful Buddhist statues around the large grounds create a calm environment. Join a private blessing ceremony at the pagoda with candles and incense sticks, led by the monks who live there. You will sit on a mat made by hand while the monks say ritual blessings and splash holy water (which is supposed to bring good luck) before putting a sacred thread on your wrist. The monks will give you a small souvenir to remember this special moment. Return to your hotel for relaxation, lunch on your own.

Afternoon, drive to visit the photogenic Ta Prohm temple of “Tomb Raider” fame, the temple that had nearly disappeared into the jungle and remains overgrown, an oddly haunting and exotic scene. The awe-inspiring roots of a tree, entwined among the massive stone blocks of the temple in a captivating embrace, create an unforgettable experience. With fewer tourists around, you can truly savor the harmonious coexistence of human architecture and natural beauty at this enchanting location. Afterward, take a stroll through the Sra Srong village, located just behind Ta Prom temple, and observe the local villagers engaged in crafting wooden carvings and weaving palm leaves. Indulge in a delightful high tea at one of the villagers' homes and engage in meaningful interactions with the local families. Drive back to your hotel in Siem Reap.

Breakfast at the hotel.

From the hotel, our guide and driver will bring you to the cycling spot on the edge of the city.

Start cycling to the beautiful green village of Krobey Riel, which means Wild Buffalos. Stop at the village and our guide will walk to view the organic vegetable garden venture. Besides taking care of the house, the ladies earn money by making cane baskets that cost $2–$3 each, while the men cultivate their land in the village. During this interaction, you can have greater insights into how these farmers live their lives. Get to one of the Khmer Traditional Houses and get ready to cook some Khmer gourmet food (for your lunch). The organically grown vegetables are grown in the home’s garden or bought directly from villagers in order to support the local community. Our highly regarded chef will take you step by step through the correct method of preparing some delicious Khmer foods. After completing this cooking journey – you get to enjoy your own meal (don’t worry – if it’s a disaster, we’ve got you covered). Transfer back to your hotel in Siem Reap by a support vehicle and relax.

In the late afternoon, drive towards the Tonle Sap Lake and make a brief stop at Wat Athvea. This 12th-century temple was a training site for the builders of Angkor Wat. Next, you will head to Chhong Kneas floating village and take a boat trip on Tonle Sap Lake. The lake is the largest freshwater lake in Southeast Asia in the wet season, when it reaches 16,000km². As you cruise through the floating village, you can observe how the locals live. On board, you will have champagne and canapés while admiring the sunset. Return to the port after sunset and head back to your hotel in Siem Reap by car. Dinner on your own.

This morning, get up before sunrise and go with your guide for a 15-minute journey to experience the Sunrise at Angkor Wat. Your guide will lead you to a tranquil place where you can see the spectacular sunrise as the first beams of the day illuminate the temple. It is an incredible place to enjoy the sunrise, but be prepared, you won’t be alone! Angkor Wat, a legendary UNESCO World Heritage Site. Said by some to symbolize the soul of the Khmer people, the magnificent temple was built during the reign of King Suryavaman II in the early 12th century. Historians believe that many of the fascinating basreliefs and stone carvings immortalize many of the mighty king’s wars. Images of Apsara dancers decorate the five famous towers which replicate the universe according to Hindu mythology.

After sunrise, continue to explore the site with a renowned scholar who works with the Angkor Temple Conservation Institute. He will draw on his vast knowledge to provide you with a concise overview of Khmer history and culture through the lens of archeology. Learn about some of the unanswered mysteries that face contemporary scholars, as well as the challenges of archeological conservation. You can immerse yourself in the stories of the Khmer Empire, as they are portrayed on the bas-reliefs and murals, while you stroll through the finely decorated passages of Angkor Wat. Drive back to your hotel in Siem Reap for a late breakfast, and relax.

At around 05:00 pm, depart by tuk-tuk with your guide (~ 1.5 – 2 hours) for an orientation tour around the town. A tuk-tuk ride through the city will take you to FCC bar, where you can have a cocktail or a drink before heading to Angkor Kyung Yu Road, also known as Road 60. This is where you can find a variety of street food stalls, far from the touristy bars, along the streets. Many local families enjoy eating here in the early evening, and it’s a sensory delight. You will see a range of exotic fruits, grilled meats, and if you’re brave enough fried insects. Cambodians love to eat and virtually anything is on the menu. You will learn from your guide how to munch on bugs of all sizes, but it’s okay if you don’t want to try. You may find a new snack that you love and discover fruits that you never heard of before! You will rejoin your tuk-tuk to the town as well as take a walk through the alleys and side streets around the Old Marker area, and enjoy your dinner at Red Piano. Next, you are transferred to the theater to enjoy Phare Ponleu Selpak Circus (from 08:00 pm to 09:00 pm), Siem Reap’s most unique, authentic, top-rated evening entertainment. The stories that Phare performers tell are uniquely Cambodian, spanning from historical to modern times. They use theater, music, dance, and modern circus arts to convey them. They are not just a circus. They will dazzle you with their energy, emotion, enthusiasm and talent. Drive back to the hotel, and relax.
