Itinerary

Phnom Penh, the largest and most populated city in Cambodia, has been the national capital since the French colonized Cambodia. It is also the country’s economic, industrial, and cultural hub.

When you arrive at the Phnom Penh International Airport, find our representative with a signboard with your names. Our representative will help you with the immigration and take you to the baggage claim where you can get your luggage and wait for your passport to be stamped. Then, our representative will bring you to the guide, who is outside the arrival terminal. You will go to your hotel for check-in (early check-in is not guaranteed and depends on the hotel’s availability).

Accommodation: Le Royal Hotel or a similar standard resort

Breakfast at the hotel.

Our guide and driver pick you up from the hotel and start the tour by visiting to Tuol Sleng Museum.

Toul Sleng was a high school prior to 1975, an interrogation prison known as S-21 during the Khmer Rouge era, and today it is a genocide museum. It narrates the tragic tale of the thousands of blameless Cambodian people who suffered on its premises. Walking through the narrow corridors and former classrooms of the buildings will give you an eerie feeling of being part of Cambodia’s turbulent past. The stories of the victims are documented and some torture devices are on display for visitors to learn about the suffering the people endured. Photographs were taken of each prisoner passing through the prison and hundreds of the haunting black and white photos are now on display in the museum.

Visiting this place can help you grasp the harsh ways that the Khmer Rouge oppressed the nation, even though it might be a sad experience. And then we continue to visit the Russian market and return to your hotel for lunch. Lunch on your own.

In the afternoon, you can see the Royal Palace and the Silver Pagoda, which are among the most beautiful Khmer buildings in the city. The French constructed the Royal Palace in 1866 for King Norodom. The grounds of the palace are also home to the Silver Pagoda, which received its name because its floor is made up of 5,329 silver tiles. The palace has been inhabited by kings at all times with the exception of the period when the radical Khmer Rouge party took control in 1975.

Then, have a delightful dinner cruise on a boat along the Mekong River.

Phnom Penh is situated between two rivers, the Mekong River and the Tonle Sap River. When the sun sets and the river banks glow with neon lights, you can enjoy a small boat cruise on the river and see the city in a new way. Witness the sunset over the Royal Palace and the Mekong River while enjoying a cocktail. After the sun goes down, you can savor a catered dinner from a reputable restaurant in Phnom Penh. Relax on the cruise as you eat and admire the views of the river bank, where many Cambodians gather with their loved ones. Return to the port and go back to your hotel.

Enjoy your breakfast at the hotel and then head to Phnom Penh Airport for your flight to Siem Reap. You have arrived at Siem Reap, a tranquil town that leads you to the old city of Angkor. It is astonishing to think that this place was once the center of a powerful civilization that flourished in the 12th century and had a population of over a million people.

When you land at Siem Reap Airport, the guide will greet you outside the terminal. From there, you will go to your hotel and check in (note that early check-in depends on the hotel’s availability and is not guaranteed) – Relax and enjoy your time.

Your guide and driver will meet you at the hotel at 3.00 pm and take you on a Siem Reap Orientation Tour. You will drive through the world heritage city of Siem Reap and visit the main local shrine of Preah Ang Chhek Preah Ang Chhom. Then, you will stop at a local coffee shop for a drink and learn more about Siem Reap and the country from your guide. After that, you will head to Wat Damnak, one of the most stunning pagodas in Siem Reap. You will admire the French colonial architecture and the peaceful Buddhist statues that adorn the spacious grounds. You will also join a private blessing ceremony at the pagoda, where the resident monks will chant prayers and sprinkle holy water (which is said to bring good luck) on you before tying a sacred thread around your wrist. The monks will give you a small souvenir to remember this unique experience. Dinner will be served at Chanrey Tree Restaurant.

Rise early and beat the crowds at the photogenic Ta Prohm temple of “Tomb Raider” fame, the temple that had nearly disappeared into the jungle and remains overgrown, an oddly haunting and exotic scene. temple is made of enormous stones that are gently squeezed by the magnificent roots of a tree, and this sight fills you with feelings that linger in your memory. Undisturbed by crowds of tourists you can better appreciate the interplay of man and nature at this magical site. Next, explore the Sra Srong village behind Ta Prom temple, where you can see the villagers craft wood and weave palm leaves. Have a coffee at a local house and chat with the family there. Back to the hotel after the visit for a late breakfast.

In the afternoon, we will embark on a journey to uncover the enigmatic Royal city of Angkor Thom. The 50-tower temple is an awe-inspiring spectacle. Initially, it appears to be an amorphous mass of stone, but upon closer examination, faces begin to emerge, one after another, until you are suddenly enveloped by the silent, profound, and mysterious gaze of the half-closed eyes, transporting you back to a primitive and distant era. We will start our exploration at the Victoria Gate and take a unique stroll along the 8-meter-high wall, venturing through the forest to reach the less crowded Death Gate. As we pass by the Terraces of Elephants and Leper King, we will traverse the tranquil parkland to visit the Phimeanakas and Baphuon temples, where we will learn about the indigenous trees and fruits. Our afternoon sightseeing will culminate with a visit to the iconic Bayon temple, renowned for its intricately carved faces.

During the wet season, the lake expands to an impressive 16,000km², making it the largest freshwater lake in Southeast Asia. Our boat trip will take us through the floating village, providing an opportunity to observe the local way of life while enjoying champagne and canapés on board. Angkor Wat, a legendary UNESCO World Heritage Site. Said by some to symbolize the soul of the Khmer people, the magnificent temple was built during the reign of King Suryavaman II in the early 12th century. Historians believe that many of the fascinating basreliefs and stone carvings immortalize many of the mighty king’s wars. Images of Apsara dancers decorate the five famous towers which replicate the universe according to Hindu mythology.

Drive back to your hotel in Siem Reap for a late breakfast, and relax.

At around 05:00 pm, depart by tuk-tuk with your guide (~ 1.5 – 2 hours) for an orientation tour around the town. A tuk-tuk ride through the city will take you to FCC bar, where you can have a cocktail or a drink before heading to Angkor Kyung Yu Road, also known as Road 60. This is where you can find a variety of street food stalls, far from the touristy bars, along the streets. Many local families enjoy eating here in the early evening, and it’s a sensory delight. You will see a range of exotic fruits, grilled meats, and if you’re brave enough fried insects. Cambodians love to eat and virtually anything is on the menu. You will learn from your guide how to munch on bugs of all sizes, but it’s okay if you don’t want to try. You may find a new snack that you love and discover fruits that you never heard of before. You will rejoin your tuk-tuk to the town as well as take a walk through the alleys and side streets around the Old Marker area, and enjoy your dinner at Red Piano.

Next, you are transferred to the theater to enjoy Phare Ponleu Selpak Circus (from 08:00 pm to 09:00 pm), Siem Reap’s most unique, authentic, top-rated evening entertainment. The stories that Phare performers tell are uniquely Cambodian, spanning from historical to modern times. They use theater, music, dance, and modern circus arts to convey them. They are not just a circus. They will dazzle you with their energy, emotion, enthusiasm and talent. Drive back to the hotel, and relax.
